Yes, it’s probably one of the best films I have ever seen…and not honest of the year but one of the best films of all-times.

“Bubba Ho-Tep” is a joy to ogle, not because of the ludicrous premise and the humorous situations, but because of the acceptance of the ludicrous premise and comic situations.

And the feeling that (except for the mummy bit) this may all be good.

Bruce Campbell (of the “Unpleasant Dumb” series of movies) gives the performance of his LIFE as Elvis Presley…an Elvis Presley who did NOT die. Instead, Elvis resides in a Texas resthome, waiting for death to retract him out. His glory days are forever unhurried him and he’s in a residence of depression after watching his roommate kick the bucket next to him.

Time passes slowly and so do his days and it makes him even more sick colorful that he can feel his demise coming.

It’s wrongheaded for most critics to overlook the metaphor in “Bubba Ho-Tep”. Director Don Coscarelli (”Phantasm”) cleverly adapts the record (from author Joe R. Lansdale’s short account) and successfully brings the notion to life. You have that Bruce Campbell is Elvis because he plays Presley with such heart and dignity that any Elvis fan will want “Ho-Tep” in their movie collection when it hits the video-shelves. Ossie Davis gives a warm-hearted performance as “Jack” AKA JFK. He’s so sweet and lovable and you want him on your side because he’s friendly.

And that’s the brilliance of this movie: Campbell and Davis plays their rolls with a straight face. You contain that THEY enjoy they are who they say they are. It’s deadpan comedy at its finest. It fair better illustrates that this is a movie about growing stale and confronting regret and anxiety before your time is up. Dress it up and compose it dance but that’s level-headed what’s at the core of the film and you can’t bellow it.

As writer Stephen King once said, “We’re all gonna die someday, baby. I’m unprejudiced trying to manufacture it arresting.”

In the tradition of the “Irascible Tiring,” movies, Bruce Campbell is attend in honest earn in this horror/comedy/drama flick that’s a roaring splendid time. You impartial don’t know what to question next once you begin this unpleasant boy. Filled with laughs, dread and surprisingly, heart, “Bubba Ho-Tep” is everything you’d want from a B-Movie and more.

Campbell stars as an elderly Elvis who lives in a Texas retirement home. People withhold thinking he’s fair an impersonator off his rocker, but in reality he had traded places with an “Elvis” impersonator so he could gather away from all of the fame and hardships of a rock-n-roll star. However, something weird has been happening in this retirement home. Folks are dying mysteriously every night without any determined explanation. As it turns out, an Egyptian mummy is the cause for the deaths and it needs to feed on their souls to discontinue alive. It’s up to Elvis and his buddy, JFK, to select on this evil foe before it slaughters every living person in the retirement home. The ruin results are unpredictable and off-the-wall.

The premise alone intrigued me to sight it. That, and Bruce Campbell. I’m always in the mood to view a suited humorous terror movie, and this movie did a mammoth job of fulfilling that need. Not one miniature went by where I was bored or disappointed. While the myth may be over-the-top, it’s done in such a creative and clever arrangement. The movie has fun with itself and it’s very easy to observe. Bruce Campbell does a satisfactory job as “Elvis,” and let’s not forget the mammoth Ossie Davis as the one and only “JFK.” The movie combines elements of comedy, drama and awe. It doesn’t know what it wants to be at times, but the cast knew that from the get-go and they even goof on that fact (survey the featurettes and listen to the commentary) .

The DVD has some outstanding features. The movie sounds and looks really obliging for a flick that was done under such a rude budget. The commentary tracks are definitely worth you time, and you MUST listen to the commentary track where Bruce Campbell does it as “The King” and stays in character the entire time. It is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Other extras include featurettes, a music video, deleted scenes, the novel trailer and more. All of this makes one heck of a ample package.

“Bubba Ho-Tep” is a sizable time from Campbell and company. Any fans of the “Disagreeable Unimaginative” movies will definitely want to place this on their list. Unbiased sustain in mind that this is a movie that you peer to be entertained and nothing more. This movie was pure enjoyment from beginning to demolish. I unprejudiced noticed that a scene is missing from the DVD that was in my previous VHS version. The scene that I am refering to is correct after Marty takes Clara home there is a short scene where she tells her parents about her date and how satisfied she is. This scene lasted about a shrimp or two. I don’t know what’s inferior with MGM lately. They forgot to include the current subtitles in “Spinal Tap” they butchered half the “Bond” films with either missing scenes or non existent subtitles and now this. I reflect we as consumers deserve better than this. We’ve had to endure MGM’s blunders for far too long. Let them know that you’re not satisified at all with the quality of their DVD’s.

Written by the gifted Paddy Chayefsky, this is a memorable film, deftly directed by Delbert Mann. That it has a stage-like, theatrical feel to it is not surprising, considering that it was first a made-for-television play that was later augmented for the silver mask. This element of theatricality, however, does not detract in the least from this gritty, thematically complex film.

Ernest Borgnine plays the role of Marty Piletti, a stocky, thirty-four year worn, lonely Italian butcher living at home in the Bronx with his mother. He is the last of the Piletti brood unexcited in the nest. Physically unattractive and a bit doltish, he is a socially awkward, lumbering lummox of internal afflict and angst. His mother wants him to earn married, or so she thinks, until the reality of what such might ultimately mean for her sinks in. She takes her cue from her sister, Marty’s Aunt Catherine, who is living with her son and daughter-in-law and making their lives hell. Consequently, she is going to depart in with Marty and his mother.

Marty spends most of his spare time with his friend Angie, as well as with a bunch of other losers. Unloved, unmarried, and unable to fetch a date, Marty has all but given up on finding Miss Accurate, when he meets a twenty-nine year mature high school teacher, also from the Bronx, Clara Snyder (Betsy Blair), at the noted Stardust Ballroom. Clara, a well educated, nice plain-Jane, is there as portion of a pity double date arranged by her brother-in-law. Unfortunately, her date turns out to be a total cad who unceremoniously tries to fob her off on anyone he can, so that he can procure some action going with a hot babe he knows. Marty feels Clara’s hurt, so he asks her to dance, not intellectual that he is meeting his feminine counterpart and soul-mate.

As the film peels the layers from Marty, the viewer meets the sensitive, kind man who lives within the unattractive exterior. The viewer really gets to feel his damage, as well as that of some of the other characters in the film. One senses the feelings of alienation and loneliness in Clara, as she is dumped by her caddish date. One senses the awe that Mrs. Piletti has at the reality of what Marty’s getting married might mean for her. Aunt Catherine’s ouster from her son’s home, as the older, unwanted woman with few options in life, also makes an impact on the viewer. The angst of Aunt Catherine’s son at having to reduce to his wife, rather than to his mother, is also palpable, as is that of Angie at the understanding of the possibility of no longer having Marty around to fragment his occupy social isolation.

The themes in this film, such as loneliness, isolation, alienation, and anxiety are all themes aloof relevant today. The only valid anachronistic designate is struck by the fact that Mrs. Piletti and Aunt Catherine both appear to be in their leisurely sixties or early seventies, but I found to my complete surprise that Aunt Catherine is supposed to be fifty-six, and Mrs. Piletti is her younger sister! Trust me when I say that, nowadays, women in their fifties do not peruse like that.

All in all, this is an wonderful film. Those who enjoyed this film should also peep out another Paddy Chayefsky film, “The Catered Affair”, starring Bette Davis and Ernest Borgnine, which is a bitter sweet film about another Bronx family.

Maybe it’s not the best movie as far as dialogue goes, but for being an action movie about robots from outer position, it’s suited. The transformations are safe enough to not raise doubt about the mechanics of them (which is fine for me as an aerospace engineer, because I tend to search for these things) . This is the kind of movie that makes stout HD televisions and high-quality sound systems worth having.

For a nerd that passe to drool over this point to as a kid, this movie hooks you from the very beginning. From Optimus Prime’s summary intro (with Peter Cullen tranquil at the helm of our well-liked alien semi) to the Decipticon attack on the military imperfect, you have no doubts that this is Transformers. Shia LaBeouf makes his entrance and proves the perfect allotment for this movie. He’s actually dazzling droll and acts the allotment well. As far as the rest of the humans in this cast, not as great can be said.

After the awesome introduction, the first fragment of the movie deals mainly with Shia LaBeouf’s Sam purchasing a Camaro that actually turns out to be the Autobot Bumblebee (in the cartoon, originally a VW Bug. I assume the yellow VW Bug in the car lot next to Bumblebee was a homage.) Sam unknowingly uses his alien car to notice a girl. Of course she actually is impressed when they regain out it’s an alien. There are some comely comic scenes in this piece of the movie as well as some action scenes that are very well done.

Soon comes the arrival of the other Autobots and they narrate to Sam their correct purpose, which is to locate the Allspark -a worthy plan superior of transforming a planet- before the Decepticons collect a fill of it. I concept at this point that the lifeless parts of the movie were over, but not quite. From here we go into a few too many scenes dealing with side characters, from video game playing computer experts to goofy secret agents whose quirks border slapstick comedy. Too many of these characters could be chalked up as comical relief, and most of what they attributed was not very comic. There was a slightly humorous but overly long scene where Sam was trying to cloak the autobots while he searched through his house for a relic they needed. And then arrived John Turtorro (playing the said goofy secret agent) whom I worship, but who severely overstayed him welcome in this. Other performances, namely John Voight’s, were impartial listless campy and the cookie cutter dialogue was cringe inducing at times.

Luckily, I forgot most of that by the time the movie got to its last act. Once the Decepticons advance in force the movie is a non conclude journey of action and jaw dropping effects. While someone who’s not familiar with the characters and sage might not care what the outcome is, I found myself with memories as a kid, watching the 1986 movie for the first time. I forgot about the humans and their ho-hum sotrylines as my approved characters and toys from my childhood crashed and shot and ripped each other apart. I forgot that I was watching CG effects as the transformers witness as sincere as the environment they’re destroying. The action scenes are larger than life and I’m amazed at how well the battles of the cartoons translated onto great conceal. The transformers themselves were all very well done, applying right physics to their transformations and robot appearances. They perceive trusty and new but don’t lose the heart of what the fanboys loved about them from relieve in the day. And Hugo Weaving as Megatron was genius. I missed hearing the current Starcream, but the recent affirm actor died many years ago, and the two or three lines Starcream had in this sounded pleasurable.

Despite the astronomical flaws in acting, dialogue and script, I left this movie with that rare itch to want to go straight wait on inside and examine it again. From the previews, it looked like the movie was going to pick a realistic perspective and reveal the warring alien machines from a human point of belief. But that’s really not the case at all. In every other Michael Bay movie, the corny dialogue and overdramatic characters kill an otherwise sterling premise. But Transformers is based on a cartoon, so why shouldn’t the movie feel like one? Here it works. It’s large, expressionless nostalgic fun that the kid in me has been after for 20 years.

I contemplate if everyone would conclude referring to the Wes Anderson movies as comedies we would all be better off. “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is not about making the audience laugh. Yes, there are times you will laugh, but there are also times you will cringe, and there are other moments for fair about everything else. What kind of movie is it? It really isn’t something that can be given a single brand. Yes, there are all kinds of jokes, but aren’t they in the service of something more than simple laughs? Hearing David Bowie songs in Portuguese with an acoustic guitar is not only laughable, it is kind of delicate.

A simple joke is the name of Zissou’s ship. The Belefonte is clearly a play on Cousteau’s Calypso as are the crew’s red knit caps. However, some of the humor is quite tough. Mediate of the scene with Jeff Goldblum’s Alistair Hennessy playing cards with his pirate captors as Steve Zissou comes in the room. What follows is humorous, but grim at the same time. Then there is the exclusive contrivance the inside of the boat is portrayed in a cutaway space that looks erroneous and is meant to search for deceptive. Peruse that the science room is the smallest room on this research vessel. The Sauna is grand bigger and all the rooms given over to film production constitute most of the ship.

This movie has a lot of fun with the artificial in documentaries and films. Even the scenes of creatures of the sea are often CGI creations that don’t even try to observe true. Heck, even the colors in the Zissou documentaries are supersaturated and peep like they were done in different colors of ink rather than the ocean. How true is life when you are more concerned about getting everything shot with the fair sound rather than living it? And how legitimate can a documentary be when it is cobbled together from a lot of staged shots and hosted by someone who really doesn’t have a clue about the science tedious what is being filmed?

All of the lead actors are terrific and Bill Murray leads the scheme as the weary and fading Steve Zissou. Everyone fervent with Zissou has their contain downward arc. Even the equipment is obsolete and barely works. Tired helicopters are risky things.

Does the movie work? Maybe not. However, I win so worthy to contemplate and delight in in each scene - even unbiased the actions of the non-speaking characters - that I really enjoyed this movie. If you want to examine something strangely blooming, that plays with all kinds of notions of what is actual and what is unfounded and has a lot of fun along the map, this might be something you would appreciate, although it is not for children.

I guess the kind of send up it is, even of Moby Dick, can be captured by then slay title that expresses “gratitude to the Jacques Cousteau Society even though they had nothing to do with the making of the film.” I like this kind of thing. Maybe you do to.

Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums) is sowing some of his more artificial and creative wild oats in his latest, “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.” I mean stop-motion clay bewitching sea horses and other assorted sea creatures? As well as a third wall removed situation of Zissou’s (Bill Murray) ship in which Anderson films the scenes there as if they were acts in a stage play?

It’s weird, strange…and I’ve got to admit shapely astounding.

Bill Murray plays Steve Zissou: a Jacques Cousteau sort of Sea Adventurer who, at the film’s beginning, is down on his luck and has unbiased lost a best friend to a so-called Jaguar Shark. One of the film’s funniest scenes comes reach the beginning when Zissou, in a conference swears to collect even with the shark by finding and murdering it to avenge the death of his friend.

Owen Wilson is also on hand as Ned: a man who claims to be Zissou’s son and once again we have this recurring theme in Anderson’s work about lost, then regained fathers so prevalent in “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

With a film so plump of artifice, snotty-yet-funny wit and the king and queen of deadpan, Murray and Angelica Huston one would assume that all of “The Aquatic Life” would be without an emotional life. But I found this film to have a very deep well of emotion if you are willing to wash down your emotion with sizable gulps of remorse and wry humor.

“The Life Aquatic” is a veritable beggar’s banquet for the eyes and the ears (a Brazilian troubadour sings David Bowie songs throughout the film to underscore the drama) and though you sometimes believe the whole ship is going to go over the edge artistically…it never does. It objective sails along; the course spot for parts unknown and uncharted.

This is astronomical! Finally, Pokemon Advanced Battle is on DVD! This is a expansive DVD because it has the first of 2 episodes with Groudon and Kyogre, the second on another DVD. If it had both then this would be even better, but that’s in volume 2, The Scuffle of Legends. You’ll fancy this DVD.

My other review of this movie (two minutes of Groudon) is a fraction of junk. The movie is actually comely top-notch but you have to grasp “The Scuffle Of Legends” to really understand what’s going on. Without that movie you’ll believe this one is a 1 star rating. That’s what I conception before I got Scuffle of Legends. —- Morgan’s words

The World Wide Web and some dedicated websites (to include Amazon.com) can be instrumental in obtaining a big concensus that can sway a major producer of DVDs to complete a series. Kudos to the above (and you “Roughnecks” know who you are)!

This account arc had become the lost episodes of the Starship Troopers Chronicles, and was previously referred to as the “Ice Planet” account arc. This arc will fill-in most of the loose ends (Zander’s scrape is explained, modern bugs are introduced, etc.) and takes spot between The Tesca Campaign and The Klendathu Campaign.

So now we face the Frozen Drool Campaign of anticipation.

After almost a year of waiting, we finally have episodes 21 through 25 of this 40 episode series, bringing the total number available on DVD to 35 … maybe we’ll search for the other five episodes some day.

This disk does not have quite as many features as the other disks in the series (multiple languages, for example), but they did go help to the studio and enhance the music and audio effects, and the full-length commentary track provides insights into the making of the series.

Even though the target audience was adolescents, I’m in my 50s, and have been anxiously awaiting this “missing week” to complete my collection. (I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available, as I did with the other disks in the series.) As different from the movie as the movie was from the book, it is serene Very Arresting, and I really be pleased watching the reactions of people who peruse it for the first time. :-)

As revealed on one of the other disks, the actors recorded the scripts of two additional episodes, but they were never moving … budget constraints reach the kill led to the creation of two “clip shows” to exclaim the promised 40 episodes (5 episodes a week for 8 weeks.) We now have 7 of what should be 8 DVDs, and if enough fans assume them, maybe the producers will complete the unfinshed episodes and include them on a final DVD.

Cast your vote for completing the collection by buying this disk … and if you haven’t purchased any of the others yet, pick up this one first, because it’s a well constructed, self-contained fable arc that stands OK by itself, even if it is out-of-context.

The Spirit of St. Louis was a box-office disappointment. That will never change. But what may change is the opinions of critics and the public on how this film should be viewed. It has all of the makings of a successful film: a tremendous director in Billy Wilder, a sage in Jimmy Stewart, and it’s based on the autobiography of an American hero in Charles Lindbergh.

No matter what effect sales were like, it is a well-done film. One cannot stammer the fact that Stewart was not the right age to play Lindbergh, but it doesn’t really choose anything away from the film. Lindbergh always seemed to be more wise than his age would suggest anyhow.

The VHS version is dazzling, and until the DVD version is released (if ever) this is the only arrangement to go.

Jimmy Stewart stars as the “Lone Eagle” Charles Lindbergh in Billy Wilder’s film “The Spirit of St. Louis”. This was a film Stewart wanted to obtain for years; but was repeatedly turned down. James Dean was even considered for the role. Despite the fact that Stewart was already in this 40’s (Lindbergh was 25 at the time), Stewart’s persistence paid off and Warner Bros. Studios finally relented and let him star as one of American’s greatest aviators. The life of Charles A. Lindbergh is told in a series of memorable flashbacks as he makes his trans-atlantic flight. His life experiences and the people he met along the diagram are vividly recounted.

On May 20, 1927, at approximately 7:52 in the morning, Charles Lindbergh took off in the “Spirit of St Louis” from Roosevelt Field, Long Island. A crowd of more than 500 must have opinion they had witnessed a miracle as the “Spirit of St. Louis” barely managed to definite the telephone wires at the field’s edge in poor weather conditions. Thirty-three and one half-hours and 3,500 miles later Lindbergh landed in Paris, the first to glide the Atlantic alone. Many substantial aviators of the time had tried and failed — some even lost their lives in this attempt. Along the scheme, Lindbergh is forced to conquer his fears, snow, sleet and a lack of sleep to rediscover his faith. On the evening of May 21, at 10:22, “The Spirit of St. Louis” touched down at Le Bourget Field. A crowd of more than 100,000 people were there to greet American’s Lone Eagle. His feat electrified a nation and inspired an interest in aviation. Unfortunately, this film flopped at the box office; but as the years have passed, this film has gained in respect and is now recognized as one of Stewart’s greatest film accomplishments. Instead of settling down events inaugurate to become even more complex. Koishi decides to protest Kei her just feelings for him and Matagu seems to be keen in Ms. Kazami. Jealousy and adore will approach head to head as everybody tries to resolve what is best for them. And why is Ichigo so enthusiastic in getting Koishi and Kei together? If Kei tries to please everyone will he slay up running away from his gain legal feelings? And what happens if the stain puts him into a standstill?

While there is humor, as in all the Please Teacher! DVDs, these three episodes are more like a soap opera. Kei and the characters have to fabricate some hard choices. What would you do?

IF you have not yet purchased volumes 1 and 2 then you are definately missing out! The myth is about cherish…and overcoming your deepest fears. if you are a correct romance anime fan..then definately add please teacher to your collection. I would rate is 14 and up..due to sexual suggestions.

Inuyasha is a spacious series and it suits most people for it’s a mix of comedy, action, drama and romance. All (or most, at least) characters are well developed, each one has his/her fill legend, personal struggles and different characteristics.

This DVD is broad. Sadly, it hasn’t been released yet, but I’ve seen the episodes and I’ll steal this DVD for certain!

In the first episode, Kirara disappears! The episode explores Sango and Kirara’s relationship, and also Kirara’s importance in the Inuyasha Co.. It made me feel a bit dismal on some times, and roll in laughter on other moments. A very nice, fun episode.

The second episode is a bit darker and more dramatic. As the title suggests, Kikyou and Kagome are alone in a cave. But it’s not an ordinary cave and they’ll have to work together. It goes deeper in the whole Kagome-Kikyou subject. Definitely a must-see.

About the third episode… well… Kouga and Sesshoumaru are my well-liked male characters in the Inuyasha series, so having the two of them starring an episode made me extremely glad!

However, I reflect you don’t have to be a Kouga or Sesshoumaru fan to luxuriate in this episode.

In summary, this DVD focuses the relationships of characters: Kirara and Sango, Kagome and Kikyou, Sesshoumaru and Rin, Kouga and his pack.

I rate this DVD 5 stars, and I’m definite it is worth the rating.

When Kogame and Kikyo were traped inside the cave with that monster that feeds on priestesses I wish they both would of gotten eating up espically after Kogame was saying we don’t need Inuyasha’s relieve honest because she got inflamed at him when he didn’t like Kogames cooking. He can’t aid it it’s capable to be honiest. Why would Inuyashs be peril after Kogame said the humdrum sit express three times. Songo got the nerves to laugh after Inuyasha went on a streak.

There’s a lot to praise about the Caillou series, but three things stand out especially in my mind. First: having myself three kids in or slightly past the age of Caillou (4) and his sister (2), I must say I have never seen video-stories so sensitive and good in portraying the mental world of the two age levels. The author is reported to be a children’s psychology specialist, and it certainly shows.

The second point is related: the stories unfold in a wonderfully gentle, smooth, every-day manner. They’re in total dissimilarity to the prevalent action-packed, slightly hysterical type of children’s movies, yet somehow they’re very remarkable in drawing the audience into the puny joys and grief of a kid’s life.

Finally, though perhaps less uniquely: Mum and Dad are depicted in a refreshingly original, realistic arrangement which does more than objective smash the dualist Dad-as-career-hero, Mum-as-saintly-guardian stereotype. It shows them as people who sometimes want to have fun on their enjoy, and who call in a nanny for the kids when they throw a party.

The novel Caillou dvds are a tiny different from what we’re primitive to. They don’t have the puppets in between the segments. They are peaceful spacious and the kids don’t seem to mind.
